Aba, Nigeria, September 9, 2026 — Today we are expanding Maimaps with routing intelligence, giving logistics platforms, delivery services, and mobility companies the ability to build precise, optimised movement directly on top of the same Loccode infrastructure that powers Maimaps navigation. This capability is available now for developers at Maiaddy Developers.
This expansion marks the next chapter in what Maiaddy is building. In November 2024, we introduced Loccodes as a universal identity system for every place in Nigeria. In July 2026, we launched Maimaps to make those identities searchable and navigable by anyone. Today, that same platform takes the next step: turning location identity into location intelligence, so Loccodes don't just tell you where a place is, they tell you how to reach it.
The problem we set out to solve
Nigeria's logistics and mobility sectors have grown rapidly. The infrastructure underneath them has not kept pace. Delivery companies make multiple confirmation calls before dispatching a rider because they cannot trust that a written address will resolve to the right location. Drivers navigate by voice note and landmark description. Route planning is often manual or dependent on tools built for markets where addresses are standardised and reliable. The result is friction that costs money at every step.
Missed deliveries, delayed pickups, inefficient routes, and inaccurate arrival estimates are not edge cases in this environment. They are the norm. We built Loccodes to solve the identification problem. We built Maimaps to solve the accessibility problem. Now, Maimaps solves the movement problem too. One platform, one identity layer, one API, covering everywhere a place needs to be found, shared, reached, and optimised against.
When you build routing on top of Loccodes, every coordinate is trustworthy, every route is calculated on real data, and every arrival time means something. We could have built this as a separate product. We built it inside Maimaps instead, because a location platform that can't tell you the best way to reach a place is only half finished.

What makes this different
Most routing tools are built for markets with standardised postal addresses, and work well where addresses are reliable and precise. In Nigeria, that reliability cannot be assumed. Because this routing intelligence is built natively on Loccodes, every origin, destination, and waypoint in a route can be expressed as a Loccode, resolving to a precise, verified coordinate rather than an interpreted address.
The same Maimaps API now offers geocoding and address verification before a route is calculated, dynamic route optimisation that adapts to traffic, road closures, and delivery demand as they happen, accurate estimated arrival times based on live conditions rather than historical averages, and guidance to exact pick-up and drop-off coordinates, not just approximate street-level locations. It scales from a single delivery run to a national logistics network without requiring a change in integration.
This is routing infrastructure designed for Nigeria, built on location data that was designed for Nigeria, inside the same platform Nigerians already use to find their way.
Built for every operation that moves
For consumers, Maimaps remains the simplest way to share exactly where you are and get there yourself.
For businesses, it is still a single location identity that works everywhere. For e-commerce and delivery platforms, Maimaps now reduces the operational overhead of last-mile delivery directly, with addresses verified before dispatch and routes calculated on real conditions.
For ride-hailing services, it closes the gap between where a passenger expects a driver and where the driver actually arrives. For logistics operators managing multi-stop networks, it provides fleet-level route optimisation that continuously adapts as conditions change.
For developers, it means one API instead of two. The same Loccode that identifies a destination in the Maimaps app can now be passed directly into a Maimaps route request, powering commerce tools, mobility services, financial products, and emergency response systems from a single, consistent integration.
Availability
Routing intelligence is available today as part of the Maimaps developer API. Documentation, API references, and SDKs are available at Maiaddy Developers. Consumers will see faster, smarter navigation in the Maimaps app automatically, no update required beyond the latest app version.
About Maiaddy
Maiaddy is a Nigerian location technology company building the infrastructure for place identity across Nigeria. Founded by Obinna Onyejeli, Maiaddy introduced Loccodes in 2024 as a universal, human-friendly, machine-readable reference system for every place in Nigeria. Through Maimaps and Maiaddy Business, Maiaddy is building the complete location layer the Nigerian digital economy needs: identity, accessibility, and now intelligence, in one platform.
